Trend Alert: Green Eye Makeup

March 11, 2011

Green is not just for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations this year; its been spotted at New York Fashion Week, the 2011 Grammy red carpet last February, and even music videos! If Katy Perry and Rihanna are rockin it, you know its a big deal. 😉

One of our favorite beauty gurus, Lauren Luke (panacea81), just put up a makeup tuturial inspired by Rihanna’s latest “S&M” video, featuring bright green and yellow eyes and coral lips.

Such a fun look, right? Try it with these simple steps:

  • Dust a yellow/gold eyeshadow or pigment from the inner corner of your eyes up to the brow bone. MAC’s eye shadow in Goldmine will work beautifully.
  • Pick a vibrant green like MAC’s Wondergrass and sweep onto your lid, from the lashline to right above the crease. Take the color right at the edge of your eyebrow, and deepen the green on the outside corner. Use a blending brush to smooth the edge between the green and the yellow.
  • Take a shimmery white shade and place right under the brow to highlight. BeFlurt’s got this awesome pigment by POP Beauty in Green Reflex, which is a white pigment with a hint of green. Perfect for this look!
  • Lightly line eyes with a black liner for depth. Lauren applied MAC kohl liner in Smolder with a small angled brush to create a thin, precise line.
  • Complete the look with a coral lip; MAC plushglass in Big Kiss is a more muted version of Lauren’s in her video.

If you love the green eyes trend, you should definitely take advantage of BeFlurt’s St. Patrick’s Day sale this week. Already discounted green & gold makeup is going for an extra 10% off! 🙂
